Writing--Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July!

Here is your work for the week. Remember, we are now totally online, which means no more face to face classes!

For next Monday, please do the following:

  • Write about the 4th of July. What are your experiences with this holiday? What does it mean to you? What do you do during this holiday?

Please use one of the following:

1. research - when you don't know the answer to a question, you search out the answer by completing research.

2. evidence--this is another word for support. You need evidence to make your case about a topic or argument. Without evidence, your writing is weak. Sometimes, you can be the source and the evidence!

3. Source--Your 'source' or 'sources' is the author or the site where you found the information. Did you get it from a website? a book? You 'cite' your source in your paper when telling your reader what you have found.

4. 5 senses--perhaps you can use your 5 senses to describe your experience

5. Who + 5--who, what where, when, why, and how.

6. Source validity-- make sure the source and evidence that you find is valid. Who wrote it? For what reason? What is the author's purpose? Is this evidence all one-sided or biased? You need to know the answers to these questions before using evidence in your work.

Ok... Have a great day!

:-) Kristi

Who is your favored team in the World Cup? You know I am rooting for my beloved ITALIA, but I am also thrilled that the USA tied against England. My second choice team, Germany, beat Australia (sorry Ms. Rosemary!) and my son is so happy about that!
